Top 10 Mercedes-Benz repair issues

Every Mercedes has its own character, strengths and weaknesses. And while it’s pretty close to perfection, we’ve become experts in identifying and making some of the most common Mercedes service repairs:

  1. Thrust Link Bushings Known To Crack Open – this results in fluid leakage, causing a bumpier drive and potential wear to the tires.
  2. Air Suspension Failure – Mercedes-Benz vehicles are known to have issues with their air suspension bags and air suspension relays.
  3. Differential Leaks – leaks are usually the result of the pinion seals, axle seals, or the differential cover components weakening over time as the result of age.
  4. Low Brake Pressure – Mercedes-Benz vehicles are equipped with Sensotronic Brake Control (or SBC). When the SBC system fails the car tends to slow down or stop rather than actually braking, as usually happens when it is instructed to do so via the front brakes.
  5. Worn Out Catalytic Converters – Mercedes catalytic converters have been known to wear out after running for approximately 60,000 miles. Fixing the catalytic converter can be expensive, in some cases costing up to $4,000.00 or more.
  6. Insulation Damage in Engine Harness Wires – in regions that are known to be hot, the heat can significantly affect the Benz’s harness wiring and insulation. As a result, overexposure to heat can result in the insulation to crack open and engine damage.
  7. Transmission Issues – the 13-pin connector in the 5-speed transmission is commonly known to leak transmission fluid, which tends to spill out into the wiring harness and damaging the control module. In addition, the valve body can result in poor shifting.
  8. Oil Leaks in Electronic Transmissions – if it was manufactured after 1995, then your Mercedes may have an electronic transmission prone to graphite buildup from the clutches, resulting in an oil leak.
  9. Inaccurate Measurement from the Mass Airflow Sensor – if a Mercedes is experiencing a hard start, engine hesitation and or rough idling, then the airflow sensor could be clogged.
  10. Ignition Failure from Old Spark Plugs – if spark plugs aren’t replaced every 75,000-90,000 miles, then problems with the ignition such as engine power loss and component damage may occur.

MERCEDES-BENZ REPAIRS & COSTS: Repairs can be costly, especially if the suggested service and maintenance schedule has been neglected. We help you to reduce costs by keeping up on your Mercedes maintenance schedules and prioritizing repairs that need immediate attention versus ones that can wait. By sourcing the best parts for the money and by providing the best technicians to work on your car, we save you money!

MERCEDES PARTS: We tend to use original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts ONLY if they are cost-efficient. Otherwise, we’ll source an equally durable aftermarket part. We’ll help you save money this way!
